Nvidia in talks to guarantee Nscale debt for West Virginia AI campus

Nvidia in talks to guarantee Nscale debt for West Virginia AI campus Image: Primary
Nvidia is discussing guarantees for billions in debt financing for Nscale's planned Anthropic data center in West Virginia, TechCrunch reported, citing The Information and Bloomberg. The proposed backing would help finance electricity and construction costs, extending beyond Nvidia's earlier support for leases and chip purchases. Under the proposed residual value guarantee, Nvidia would temporarily take over the facility if Nscale defaulted on construction payments and help find a buyer and new tenant. Anthropic has signed a $44.6 billion contract for the first 460-megawatt building, according to Nscale's IPO filing. The guarantee remains under discussion; Nscale has struggled to get projects operating.
