UCLA joins Applied Materials' EPIC Center as research partner

Applied Materials announced that UCLA's Samueli School of Engineering will join its EPIC Center in Silicon Valley as a research partner. UCLA researchers will gain access to advanced chipmaking tools to test semiconductor ideas in a commercial fabrication environment alongside Applied's scientists and engineers. The collaboration will focus on 3D chip scaling, advanced packaging and new materials for energy-efficient AI computing. Applied says the facility is on track to become operational in 2026.
