OpenAI opens outbound GPT-Live phone calls to all organizations

Telephony and SIP | OpenAI API Image: Primary
OpenAI's documentation says all organizations can place outbound phone calls with GPT-Live through the Live API. Developers create a session that dials a phone number through their telephony provider, which handles the phone network connection while GPT-Live carries the conversation. The integration uses SIP, a protocol for internet phone calls, with encrypted signaling and audio. A separate backend connection receives events and sends commands, including call transfers and hangups. Outbound calling uses the Live API rather than the Realtime API call-creation endpoint. Ringing is limited to 3 minutes, and connected calls to 2 hours.
