US authorities reportedly investigate Nvidia partner Megaspeed over chip diversion

US authorities reportedly investigate Nvidia partner Megaspeed over chip diversion Image: Primary
US authorities are investigating Nvidia cloud partner Megaspeed over suspicions that it helped Chinese firms evade export restrictions and smuggle advanced Nvidia chips into China, the New York Post reported, citing The New York Times. The Times also reported that US intelligence agencies concluded Megaspeed executive Alice Huang was passing information to Beijing. It offered no evidence that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang knew of her alleged intelligence activities and could not determine what information she supplied. Megaspeed buys Nvidia chips through Inspur's US arm and rents computing power from Southeast Asian data centers to Chinese companies, the account says. Nvidia denied diversion allegations, saying they were investigated and debunked last year.
