Florida woman faces felony charge after Claude threat referral

Florida woman faces felony charge after Claude threat referral Image: Primary
A Florida woman faces a felony charge after Anthropic reported an alleged threat written in Claude to police, TechSpot reports. An arrest report says Carli Michelle Heller wrote on September 26 that she would attack the Sheriff's office; she later said she used the chatbot as a diary. Claude's safety systems flagged the entry for a human reviewer, who judged it a credible threat and contacted law enforcement. Deputies detained Heller without incident. Anthropic says it may disclose user information in limited emergencies to prevent death or serious physical injury. Heller faces a charge of making a written threat of violence, a second-degree felony under Florida law.
