EssilorLuxottica and SAP test smart glasses linked to retail systems

A demonstration used the glasses to identify a returning customer, obtain purchase history, reorder products and suggest add-ons using customer and purchase context.
The prototypes connect SAP's Joule artificial-intelligence software with EssilorLuxottica's retail systems, which support 15,000 stores. The companies developed the two initial applications in two weeks and are targeting commercialization by year-end. They remain in testing, and the source provides no deployment results from stores or field operations.
