EXL deploys AI pipeline to accelerate medical-claims review

EXL says its Medical IDP system has reduced medical-record review from days to hours while retaining human validation at critical stages. The AWS-hosted pipeline classifies documents, extracts information and assigns each field a confidence score; results below a configurable threshold go to human reviewers. EXL trained its insurance-focused language model on more than 13,500 records from nine years of claims operations and uses it for summarization, queries and reasoning. The system handles protected health information under AWS access controls, but the performance results come from EXL's internal benchmarking rather than independent testing.
