Baseten releases joey-1 decision model at $0.01 per million tokens

Baseten released joey-1, a 2B-parameter open-weights model that answers yes-or-no and multiple-choice questions with probability scores instead of generating prose. The company prices it at $0.01 per million tokens for tasks such as routing support tickets, detecting spam and blocking harmful prompts. Baseten says a typical 2,000-token request takes 20 milliseconds, about 2.5 times faster than its elephant-1 model. Joey-1 is built on Alibaba's Qwen3.5-2B and trained on 6.21 million decision examples. Baseten has not published the tests behind its claim that joey-1 is the strongest decision model with 3B or fewer parameters.
