Asahi Linux begins move to GPL licensing across its repositories

Asahi Linux begins move to GPL licensing across its repositories Image: Primary
Asahi Linux says it has begun transitioning all its repositories to the GNU General Public License version 2 or later, changing the licensing approach for its work bringing Linux to Apple Silicon computers. The project says all its code will use strong copyleft licences going forward. The developers attribute the decision to attempts to take their permissively licensed work, replace the project and monetize Linux on Apple Silicon. They say some development code was copied without attribution or rewritten with language models to obscure its origin. The transition has begun; the project does not describe it as complete.
