Solidigm reportedly ties US chip factory plans to China equipment approval

Solidigm reportedly ties US chip factory plans to China equipment approval Image: Primary
SK Hynix's Solidigm unit is seeking US approval to send American chipmaking equipment to Dalian, China, as a condition for continuing plans for a US semiconductor factory, TechCrunch reported, citing Reuters' anonymous sources. Solidigm is considering upstate New York for a NAND flash memory plant; those chips supply storage drives used in devices and AI data centers. The sources said Solidigm wants equipment installed in spare space in Dalian to increase production. SK Hynix disputed that characterization, saying it is not seeking to expand capacity at its Dalian Mod B facility and that equipment installation is proceeding under US authorization and in consultation with the government.
