Pascal raises $8.5 million after securing refrigeration pilot contract

Pascal raises $8.5 million after securing refrigeration pilot contract Image: Primary
Pascal has raised $8.5 million in a follow-on to its seed round and signed a technology pilot contract with a multinational beverage company, the startup told TechCrunch. Sazze Partners and LB Investment co-led the financing, with participation from KDB Silicon Valley. The company's refrigeration system compresses carbon dioxide into cartridges containing a porous material. Alternating the gas flow lets the cartridges absorb heat from inside a refrigerator and release it outside. CEO Adam Slavney said the customer contract arrived earlier than expected and prompted the funding round. Pascal expects to deliver its first prototype early next year and hopes to produce a batch of more polished refrigerators in 2028.
