AWS extends Lambda loop detection to EventBridge custom buses

AWS has extended Lambda's automatic recursive loop detection to Amazon EventBridge custom event buses, allowing it to stop repeated function invocations caused by misconfigured rules or code defects. Such loops can generate runaway usage and unexpected charges. The protection is enabled by default, requires no configuration and is available in every commercial AWS Region where EventBridge custom event buses operate. When it stops a loop, AWS sends a Health Dashboard notification with troubleshooting instructions. Customers who intentionally use recursive loops can disable detection for an individual function through the PutFunctionRecursionConfig API.
