AWS adds timestamp-based reading to DynamoDB Streams

AWS has added timestamp-based reading to DynamoDB Streams, allowing applications to start with the first record written at or after a chosen time. Previously, consumers could start only with the oldest retained record, up to 24 hours old, or with newly arriving records. The feature supports recovery after interruptions, targeted replay for debugging and auditing, and synchronization after a point-in-time recovery export. It works through the DynamoDB Streams Kinesis adapter with the Amazon Kinesis Client Library. AWS says it is available across all commercial, GovCloud and China Regions without additional charges beyond standard GetRecords API request charges.
