HyperThink preprint reports faster reasoning through question-specific model updates

Researchers report that HyperThink improves the accuracy-latency tradeoff on mathematical and general reasoning tasks by replacing long intermediate thinking traces with a question-specific update to a language model's parameters. A lightweight network reads the question and predicts changes to a small subset of parameters. A decoder restricts those changes to reusable patterns intended to improve robustness and transfer. The adapted model then produces a concise solution and final answer using fewer tokens. The preprint reports its strongest gains in the regime where models perform little or no intermediate thinking.
